News from Alex and Ed Gaming

Following in the footsteps of Xbox this year, Sony is finally adding backward compatibility for PS2 games on the new PS4 with games such as most of the older Star Wars games including Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars Racer: Revenge and Super Star Wars. All games will be run using an emulator built into the PS4 software.

The original story came from WIRED who spoke to Sony about the recent news

“We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation,” a Sony representative told WIRED in an email. “We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.”

Microsoft’s efforts are considered a but half hearted with not many games as yet but it may be a simple process to launch new games. Other games apart from Star Wars will be available to play such as Dark Cloud 2and Ape Escape 2 and loads of other games that were popular on the PS2.
