Websites everyday, especially news organisations get targeted by hackers other users on the internet with DDoS attacks because they may post or say something that they don’t agree with mainly to do with the nature of the internet and how it works for bloggers and news companies. Project Shield was originally announced back in 2013 and for a time it was only available to organisations who got the invite while it was in beta, but now Google is offering the service to any news site that sign up for it and that get accepted.
In a way, Project Shield woks by using Google’s domain servers for traffic and then that system recognises DDoS traffic and blocks it. If you happen to own a blog or news website you can sign up here.
