In the UK, only two of the major supermarkets have officially adopted Apple Pay; Waitress and M&S. Tesco have also finally rolled out contactless readers in some major stores, with no word as of yet to support Apple Pay. Now Sainsbury’s have confirmed to us in an email that the company is hoping to have Apple Pay and contactless payments in store later in the year.

Dear Alex

Thanks for your email.

I’m sorry that we don’t have Apple or contactless payments in store yet. I can understand your disappointment with this, especially as it would make your shopping experience much more convenient.

We are hoping to launch Apple and contactless payments later in the year and we will release more information on this closer to the time. Sorry that I can’t provide you with more information at this moment, but we hope to have it in store very soon.

We appreciate you taking the time to get in touch with us, and we hope to see you shop with us soon.

Kind regards
