In the US, Nokia has been to trying to crack the market for ages, but have recently failed – with some help from HMD Global, who will produce the phones for Nokia in the USA. The new phone will be available in North America to start with, with hopefully expansion for other countries, but this is information isn’t clear at this stage.
The new Nokia 6 will be produced by HMD Global, under the Nokia brand for the US market. The phone will compete on the mid range playing field with a 5.5-inch HD display, aluminium body, 3GB RAM and a Snapdragon 430 CPU. Storage wise, the Nokia 6 comes with 32GB of onboard storage and, like most Android handsets – the facility for a microSD card.
Android Nougat comes pre-installed, which is the latest incarnation from Google. With the cameras, the offering is untypically mid-range, with a 16MP main camera and 8MP front camera. This bests the current iPhones for pure megapixel count, but reviews will show if this actually means good photos.
Considering the size and specs, the Nokia 6 is – in our opinion this is underpriced by quite a bit, this phone starts at $229 / £180. The Nokia 6 will be available in two colours, matte black and silver and will be on sale next month,
