This week, we learned that Hurricane Florence had caused destruction in North Caroline, a Category 1 storm resulting in damaging wind and rain across the South Eastern parts of the United States. In order to help out with the relief cause that the American Red Cross is carrying out, Apple has announced that it will be donating $1 million to help those people who have been affected by the storm.

The news came from Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday this week, via Twitter.

In the very unfortunate event a natural disaster occurs, Apple has in the past a few times offered up the opportunity for iTunes customers to donate some money to the American Red Cross to help the relief and recovery efforts the organisation is trying to do, for example just over a month ago for the California Fire at the beginning of August, Apple opened a donation page on the App Store and iTunes for iOS and Mac devices, so that customers could donate.
