A new rumour from The Verifier in Isreal has predicated that when Apple releases iOS 15 next year it’ll be dropping support for the iPhone 6s and first generation iPhone SE. Taking this rumour with a pinch of salt, it would actually make sense, the iPhone SE is based on the iPhone 6s, it has the same A8 SoC. The iPhone 6s was launched in September 2015 and the iPhone SE followed in March 2016.

Looking back at iOS 12, which was the last version of iOS which the iPhone 6 supported, it had five years worth of updates and the iPhone 6s which has hung on through iOS 13 and the current iOS 14 would have had six years worth of updates if it is dropped with the release of iOS 15 in 2021.

But as ever with this type of news, it will be a matter of we shall see what happens.
