Soon, Microsoft will start allowing much larger uploads of files to OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams from the current limit of 100GB files to 250GB files, this will no doubt help those people working from home video editing for example in huge formats, such as 4K and 8K, with the latter getting popular lately. Those companies could be using OneDrive for company wide storage and hence the need for more storage in the cloud.
The new increased limit will kick in at the end of this month for most users, with general avaiblity at the end of this quarter.
