Earlier this week, news was revealed that Caterham Cars had been purchased by Japanese importer, VT Holdings. The sports car company has been always in British hands since the initial founding around 50 years ago. Prior to the sale, the company had been owned by Team Lotus owner Tony Fernandes since 27 April 2011.

VT Holdings isn’t a lesser known company to Caterham, the importer in Japan had been handling the importation of Caterham’s for the last decade, with 200 dealers and with around 120 sales a year.

“VT Holdings is proud to welcome Caterham to the group. We have not only purchased a globally renowned performance car manufacturer but become custodians of a motoring legend. We will protect and develop the Seven to meet the legislative challenges that lie ahead.”

Kazuho Takahashi, VT Holdings Chief Executive
