Google is testing out a new cheaper plan for YouTube Premium, with a Lite option. YouTube Premium currently costs £11.99 in the UK, $11.99 in the US and €11.99 in the rest of Europe and gets you advert free video viewing on all platforms, access to YouTube Music, background playback and the ability to download videos.

However, there seems to be a subset of users who want to just watch YouTube without the adverts and not pay more for things they don’t use, such as offline playback and background playback. Google is testing out a new Lite plan which gives you just that and the trial is running now in Nordics and Benelux (except for Iceland) with a price of €6.99 per month, which will likely be £6.99 and $6.99.

However, this plan is in a trail testing period and may or may not make it to general release.
