BMW has launched a new redesigned 2 Series Active Tourer recently, with a new engine line up, new front end look and more space inside. This is now the second generation of the Tourer and it is due to go on sale here in the UK starting in March 2022.

BMW says the 2 Series Active Tourer is related to the existing 2 Series couope, but this is only in name and look, it actually sits on the same platform as the 2 Series Gran Coupe, BMW X1 and the Mini Countryman. BMW has made the front grille larger, which now houses radar sensors as well as an active air flap. The 2 Series Active Tourer is also larger than the outgoing model, 32mm longer, 24mm wider and 21mm taller.

Inside is where a lot of changes have been made, seemingly taking some cues from the new all electric iX SUV. There is a large 10.25-inch drivers display and a 10.7-inch infotainment screen, which houses Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That screen also runs the eighth-generation iDrive system.

In terms of engines, there are a couple on offer, a 1.5-litre petrol with 168bhp and a 2.0-litre with 215bhp. BMW is also still choosing to offer diesel here, so a 2.0-litre unit is offered.

The new 2 Series Active Tourer is due to go on sale in the UK in March 2022, with prices starting at £30,265.
