Vauxhall has announced that the new Astra hatchback is now on sale in the UK, with prices starting at £23,275. The new Astra is also the first Vauxhall model on sale, to offer the new range of trim levels from the company.

The new trim levels are Design, GS Line and Ultimate, with a wide array of high end included equipment and optional extras.

Astra Design has 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and rear lights, as well as two large 10-inch screens, one for infotainment and one for the driver display. The infotainment screen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rear parking sensors are also added. Price is £23,275

Astra GS Line adds 17-inch black alloy wheels, black roof, rear privacy glass and enhanced driver assist package. Price is £26,710.

Astra Ultimate adds larger 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, Alcantara seats, heated windscreen and wireless phone charging. Price is £29,285.

In terms of engine options, initially the Astra will be avian with a choice of petro, deiels, and plug in hybrid. A fully electric Astra-e will come in 2023 to join the Corsa-e, Mokka-e, Combo-e Life and Vivaro-e Life.

The Astra-e will probably share some Stellantis components, from Peugeot and Citroen so expect a range of around 200 miles, but we will know more around the time.

Inside, Vauxhall has done a huge job to modernise the look and feel, it looks a very long away from the previous Astra, which used a lot of GM components. The dash has more modern design cutes and a lot of the physical buttons have been replaced by the large touchscreen.

First deliveries to customers are due to start early next year.
