Ubiquiti announced the new AI Bullet camera for the UniFi Protect platform, its currently available as part of the Early Access program which means it is in its beta phase.

The AI Bullet is visually very similar to the existing G4 Pro, but for the first time it is available in black – which is a much requested addition to the UniFi Product line. However, in this article we are going to be comparing the G4 Pro to the new AI Bullet as apart from the resolution difference, there isn’t much to differentiate the two – as well as make our recommendation at the end.

The G4 Pro is £386.49 / €458.59 / $449 and the new AI Bullet is £264.12 / €308.21 / $299.

Recommendation

Due to no one testing the new camera yet and putting it up against Ubiquiti’s claims, we only have the spec sheet to go off from. On paper, the G4 Pro is around £120 more than the AI Bullet and it does seem worth it, it has a much higher resolution and better outdoor rating, with full IP67 rating. However, it the US it is $150 more than the new camera.

Also, Ubiquiti has said the AI Bullet has improved range for Smart Detections, but this is the first time we have heard about a range limit for them and that hasn’t been compared to any existing models. However, identifications of vehicles and pet detection is also coming soon™.

Until the benefits of the AI power have been tested, the best all round camera for most people is still the G4 Bullet, which supports Smart Detections, has a 4MP sensor and has a IK04 rating too.
