Volkswagen has revealed the pricing for its new T7 Multivan, which when it goes on sale will replace all the other MPV vehicles VW makes, such as the Caravelle, Sharan and Touran. Orders can be made from January 2022, with the first deliveries to start in March. Prices will start at £43,160.

It might look like it does, but the new T7 Multivan isn’t based on a van platform, like the Caravelle was – it instead is on the new MQB underpinnings, which is shared with a lot of VW’s passenger cars, such as the new Tiguan. It’ll also be sold alongside the standard T6 Transporter panel van.

Inside it is definitely more car than van, with a very similar dashboard and digital cockpit system to the new Golf and new Caddy, with two screens and less buttons than before. Support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also fitted as standard.

In terms of engines, there are now full electric option available at all, not even any hybridisation either. Instead, we get a choice of two engines, both are four-cylinder petrol engines. One is a 1.5-litre with 136bhp and a 2.0-litre 204bhp, both are mated to a automatic DSG gearbox, with no manual option available. VW also say that a diesel engine will be available in 2022.

Inside there is seating for seven, with easy to remove seats which all rotate and slide around the back. For business use, there is also a table that can be positioned in a variety of ways.
