Toyota has announced its brand new GR Corolla in the last few days, with AWD, 300bhp and a six speed manual it goes head to head with the Volkswagen Golf R, but sadly Toyota has no plans to bring it to the UK or Europe. The GR Corolla will be sold in North America however, unlike the GR Yaris.

The GR Corolla is developed by the Gazoo Racing devision within Toyota and the team has been responsible for the now iconic Toyota GR Yaris, Toyota GR Supra and the new Toyota GR 86.

The GR Corolla has a similar engine to the GR Yaris, with a turbocharged 1.6-litre three cylinder but here it is developing much more power, with 300bhp being sent to all wheels. Torque is at 273lb ft. Toyota has managed to increase the power here by fitting a new triple-exit exhaust. Like the GR Yaris, the GR Corolla is a manual only, with a six speed manual.

On the outside, there are new 18-inch alloy wheels and the GR Corolla comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. There are lots of black trim details around the car including intakes on the bonnet, sides and a huge rear wing.

Inside, is a new leather GR steering wheel, GR branded sports seats and aluminium pedals.
