Land Rover has updated the Velar a new engine and a new trim level with the 396bhp 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine and the HST trim. This same combination has been available on the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport for a couple of years now and this is just Land Rover expanding it out to the rest of the range.
The HST is based on the R-Dynamic and has the choice of two different engines, either a 296bhp D300 diesel six-cylinder, which has mild hybrid tech or the 396bhp P400 petrol six-cylinder which also features mild hybrid tech. Both engines feature all-wheel drive with automatic gearboxes.
All cars come with 21-inch gloss black alloy wheels, an exclusive paint called Arroios Grey, black contrast roof and a ‘Black Pack’ option which adds privacy glass, sliding panoramic roof and black suede headlining.
Inside is JLR’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system. This includes a 10-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch screen for the drivers dash and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new Velar HST can be ordered now, with prices starting at £69,865 for the diesel version and from £73,815 for the petrol.
