The Belkin Wemo Smart Video Doorbell is now available to purchase direct from Apple, at its physical retail stores and the online website. The doorbell was announced at CES earlier this year in January and supports all of the core HomeKit features for doorbells.

At the moment there are not many HomeKit doorbells which support Apple’s ‌HomeKit Secure Video (HSV)‌, so it is good to see another product launched with support for it. This feature means that the video is stored in iCloud and the camera feed can be accessed from the Home app on all of your devices, including an Apple TV.

With HSV, if you want extended recordings, up to 10 days you will need an iCloud+ subscription which will allow you to have the last 10 days of footage stored. HSV also supports detections, it can recognise people and faces, using your iCloud Photo Library for help as well as being able to tell the difference between animals, vehicles, and packages.

The Wemo Smart Video Doorbell is on sale now in the US only, we did look and it is not yet available from Apple in the UK. Priced at $249.95, it can be found here on Apple’s store. It has a 1600×1200 HD camera, support two way audio and is compatible with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks.

The doorbell also requires wired doorbell wiring, so batteries don’t need to be changed or charged.
