Today, Renault has announced the all new third generation Trafic E-Tech electric van, which joins the larger Master and Kangoo vans, both of which have electric versions available. The third generation Trafic has actually been on sale in the UK since 2014 and is probably due for a refresh at some stage. However, the new van has a reasonable 149 mile range and supports DC fast charging.

Like the combustion based Trafic, the E-Tech will have a number of sizes available, with two lengths and two heights. Powering the van is a 90kW electric motor with power coming from the 52kWh battery pack. This gives it a range of 240km or 149 miles and can bae charged by 7kW AC or 22kW AC. Something good to see is the support for DC fast charging, rated at 50kW.

Payload for the Trafic is up to 1.1 tonnes with a towing capacity of 750kg. Storage in the back is up to either 5.8 or 8.9 cubic metres, obviously depending on what body style is selected.

Renault has not yet revealed any other specs, or a price or a launch date. We could expect more information from Renault soon.
