Today, Volkswagen has hit an important milestone for the upcoming ID. Buzz. The company has reported that it has now had 12,500 pre-orders for the all electric vehicle, around 6,000 of which are for the ID. Buzz Cargo. Volkswagen CEO, Carsten Intra spoke to Automobilwoche and said that delivery estimates are now sitting at around 6 months time, with the first deliveries happing in March 2023.

Intra also mentioned that the demand for the ID. Buzz has been surprising, considering that no paying customer has even driven the vehicle, let alone seen one in person yet. No VW dealers even have any models in stock to show anyone. Volkswagen is aiming to have 15,000 ID. Buzz vehicles built by the end of 2022, half of which will go to dealers first for display models.

Powering the ID. Buzz is the same technogluy found in the existing ID.3 passenger car with a 77kWh battery, 201bhp and 310Nm of torque. Due to the motors being in the rear of the van, the ID. Buzz is actually rear wheel drive. Range is quoted at 258 miles.

In June earlier this year, Volkswagen opened up the pre-orders here in the UK and customers had the oppurtinuty to place a £2,000 deposit with the car costing from £57,115.
