Peugeot has this week updated its all electric e-208 hatchback with more range and more power too. The updated model is due to go on sale in 2023 with no word yet on any revision to the pricing. The new powertrain comes from the recently launched Peugeot e-308.
To start with, the range has gone up by nearly 25 miles, from 225 to 248 miles of range. The power output from the motor has also gone up significantly, from 136bhp to 156bhp. Peugeot hasn’t yet revealed any top speed or 0-60mph times, but the current model does it in 8.0 seconds, so we are expecting a time of less than that.
The efficiency of the new e-208 comes from the materials used in its battery, which now contains 0% nickel, 10% manganese and 10% cobalt. Added efficiency comes from the new 16in Class A+ tyres, added heat pump, humidity sensor and new transmission ratio. These all add up to the added 23 miles range.
Charging speeds are the same, the e-208 can charge from 20-80% in 25 minutes on a 100kW charger.
The current e-208 costs from £30,195 in the UK, but so far Peugeot hasn’t revealed any information regarding if the new model will stay the same price or change. The updated car is due to go on sale in 2023.
