This week, UK ISP TalkTalk has announced a new set top box designed to be used with its FTTP offering. Customers will pay for the TV service and receive the TV Hub box in order to access live TV, catchup services as well as internet streaming services too.

TalkTalk will be offering the TV Hub alongside its full fibre FTTP internet packages and will cost from £5 per month on top of any packages you have. TalkTalk will just ask for a £25 one off fee for the box. The box provides access to 70 live TV channels, catch up services from BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub as well as access to popular streaming apps such as Prime Video and NOW TV.

“We know the world of TV can be confusing, which is why we’re helping to keep everything simple for our customers. We’re giving them access to the best in TV entertainment, with an interface that makes it easy to find their favourite shows, whether live or on-demand, without any complicated commitments. Plus, the freedom to personalise our TV service just the way they’d like it by adding their favourite Apps from Google Play Store. All wrapped up in our brilliant new TV Hub, for just £5 a month.”

As it is running Android underneath, there is support for Google Play apps, Google Assistant and Chromecast. Output is at 4K, but not HDR.
