This evening, the Twitter app on iOS has been updated to support the new updated Twitter Blue plan. In the app release notes, it lists that it contains the new verification feature, meaning anyone can subscribe for $7.99 per month and get a blue checkmark. However, as many have discovered, this feature isn’t actually live yet – the app just supports it.

Twitter Blue will be expanded to the United Kingdom too, for the first time in a future update. However, with the verification, a Twitter product manager has cleared up the confusion, stating that the company is doing some “real-time” testing.

@esthercrawford says the feature is coming soon and in a later Tweet, didn’t say when that will exactly be, but it shouldn’t be long at this stage.

“Starting today, we’re adding great new features to Twitter Blue and have more on the way soon.
Get Twitter Blue for $7.99/month if you sign up now
– Blue checkmark: Power to the people: Your account will get a blue checkmark, just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow.”

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter just last week, the company has been moving at a rapid pace, with huge layoffs, firing of top executives and fast rollout of new features.
