Today, Peugeot has put the new 408 fastback on sale in the UK, with prices starting at £31,500. First examples will start coming to customers in early 2023 and will be available as either a PHEV or petrol. Peugeot has said that as some stage, an all electric e-408 will be available, but with no firm date on when that will be.

The entry level model costs £31,050 and has a 1.2-litre petrol engine, with 128bhp. The next model up is the plug-in hybrid, which costs £38,400 and has a 178bhp system. The Allure Premium, which is also a plug-in hybrid and costs from £40,725 and this model has 222bhp.

The First Edition model sits at the top of the range, costs £45,000 and has a few exclusive design pieces. Peugeot says that only 50 First Edition units will be made.

At the end of 2023, Peugeot is planing on dropping the pure petrol model and be replaced with a mild hybrid car. As we mentioned above, an all electric e-408 is due but Peugeot hasn’t yet revealed a date.
