The new Volkswagen ID. Buzz is pretty safe, as reported by the latest Euro NCAP testing conducted this week. The all-electric bus was one of 11 cars tested in December to achieve a full five star rating, with an over 90% rating for passenger occupants, both adults and children. However, due to its slab sided van like design, which it can’t really get away from – the ‘vulnerable road users’ rating is only 60%.

The ID. Buzz achieved 92% for adult occupant protection, 87% for children, 90% for the safety systems and then just 60% for vulnerable road users.

Other cars that Euro NCAP tested this month include the e Land Rover Discovery Sport, Volkswagen Amarok, Ford Ranger, Lexus RX, Mercedes GLC and the Lucid Air among many others. All of these achieved five stars just before Euro NCAP is revamping its regulations standard in 2023.

The new rules coming into play next year will be stricter and will mean more has to be done for other road users, including autonomous emergency braking that need to make considerations for motorcycles as well as pedestrians and cyclists.

Euro NCAP has shared a full YouTube video of its tests, which is below.
