Apple is closing its stores in Washington, D.C. ahead of the US presidential inauguration

Apple has chosen to close all of its five Apple retails stores in the Washington area in the US at least until near the end of this month in order to keep employees safe as well as the physical store. This is following on from the issues last week, where protesters stormed the US Capitol building.

Ahead of the Inauguration Day on the 20th January, the US Capitol building is strengthening its building security too and also some roads have been closed down too. Apple is paying its part by closing its retail stores in the area, with the closest stores being covered in plywood for security.

All five stores should be open again at the end of the month.
