Android Nougat is now available for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

When a new version of Android is released, it usually take a good few months for it too reach certain phones. But today Samsung is adding support for the latest version of Android, Nougat to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Samsung of course have added their own twist to Google’s design with smatterings of TouchWiz elements.

While Android Nougat was launched back in August, it still seems to take a while for certain phones to gain support for the latest version, but Samsung have added their own take to it. One big change is the new notification tray, boasting a much cleaner design than previously with better sorting for notifications.

Also with Android Nougat Google added official support for split screen apps on any phones that will support it, while Samsung have been adding this feature since the early Note devices they have taken the opportune to streamline the UI for activating it, you can even run five apps at once now.

Performance mode

Samsung have included a new Performance Mode, with four options for optimising your phone. Optimised mode is more suitable for day to day use by extending battery life and presumably throttles the CPU back. Game Mode uses Samsung’s own game tools and enhances the graphics. Other modes such as Entertainment and High Performance mode are available.
