Apple adds eight Macs to its vintage products list

Apple adds eight Macs to its vintage products list

Earlier this week, Apple updated its list of vintage devices and added eight Mac devices that were released around 6-7 years ago. The devices were launched in 2015 and 2016 and includes the second revision of the 12-inch MacBook.

All of the following Mac devices became vintage at the end of July 2022:

  • MacBook (12-inch, Early 2016)
  • MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2015)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt Ports)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt Ports)
  • MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
  • iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)
  • iMac (27-inch, Retina 5K, Late 2015)

As you’ll see above, this list includes the second revision of the 12-inch MacBook as well as the very first MacBook Pro models that came with the Touch Bar. Apple has since redesigned the MacBook Pro from the ground up last year but there is still one model on sale still that has the Touch Bar.

When Apple deems a device vintage, it is typically once a device hits the five year mark from being launched. These devices will likely still receive software updates but are most often unable to be serviced at official Apple Stores.
