Be.EV opens new charging hub in Sheffield

Be.EV, a UK based EV charging company has opened up its latest charging hub, this time in Sheffield. The new hub is located inside the Parkway Central Retail Park and has a variety of amenities located on site, including Greggs, Starbucks, Burger King and others. Be.EV has located the site in a rather good location, just three miles from the city centre of Sheffield and pretty close to the M1 motorway.

The site currently has nine bays, but with plans to expand that to twenty in total. In the header image, the spaces to the left hand side is where Be.EV plan to expand the site in the near future. Be.EV has also fitted provision for three waiting bays, should that be required and these are labelled as such in the top right hand corner of the site. Be.EV has also thought ahead and added two marked accessible bays.

Like the site we looked at with James from Be.EV recently, this new one uses Kempower chargers, with a capability to charge at up to 150kW DC. Pricing is from 75p/kWh for contactless users and from 70p/kWh for the free to use Be.EV app. Other services, such as Octopus Electroverse, Zap Pay and others are also available.

This new charging hub comes as part of the Sheffield City Council’s Clean Air Zone, which has plans in place to help reduce the air pollution in the city, which has caused a number of deaths and illness that are related to air quality issues.

"The air pollution deaths statistics in Sheffield are shocking and need to be drastically reduced. The Clean Air Zone introduced last year is a great start, but encouraging people to switch to EVs by giving them access to convenient public charging is the key way to finish the job. Charging infrastructure will go a long way to driving this. We need to make it as easy as possible for drivers to make the shift to driving EVs, and this ultra-rapid charging hub at Parkway is a step in the right direction. Fleet drivers make up a significant part of the UK’s motoring community and they need convenient charging more than most. It’s a key priority of ours to make Be.EV synonymous with the fleet community.”

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV

Be.EV has been trading since 2019 and is majority owned by Octopus Energy Generation and backed by NatWest and KfW.
