BYD Seal U to launch this month in Europe

BYD has revealed that starting this month, the new BYD Seal U SUV will go on sale in Europe with prices starting at €41,990 in Germany for example. The new car will sit just below the larger BYD Tang SUV and will have two trims levels available, Comfort and Design. As of writing, BYD in the UK doesn’t offer the Tang or the Seal U just yet, selling just the Atto 3, Seal and Dolphin. In Germany for example, the Seal U is the sixth model to hit the market.

The Seal U was shown off in Munich in 2023 at the IAA Mobility show and has two battery packs available, 71.8kWh and 87kWh. The smaller of two is good enough for 260 miles (420km) of range and the larger 310 miles (500km) and it uses the latest platform from BYD using the company’s iconic blade batteries and 800 volt architecture. In terms of power, the car has a 160kW motor and 330 Nm of torque and front wheel drive, at this stage four wheel drive has not been announced.

Charging speed is 11kW AC and DC fast charging is a little slow, 115kW on the Comfort trim and 140kWh on the design. Elsewhere, BYD has also fitted a selfie camera and karaoke microphone.

Prices for the BYD Seal U start from €41,990 in Germany and joins the Han, Tang, Atto 3, and Dolphin.
