The next Roku player (pictured is the current Roku 3 which launched back in 2013) due for an upgrade, now that 4K is becoming even more prominent than ever with Netflix making shows and films in 4K as well as YouTube, which has been supporting it for a number of years now. Also nearly every TV is now 4K compatible theses days. This is important as the next Roku has had he FCC details leaked online and someone has spotted that it has the code “4400X” which could mean that the Roku 4 might have 4K compatibility as well s 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth.

The latest Apple TV is shipping in October and doesnt support 4K so the Roku may have the edge there. Also the new Roku is planed to be released in October.
