Disney is raising the price of Disney+ and launching new ad-supported plan

Disney has recently announced that it will be increasing the price of its Disney+ service, as well as doing what it said it wouldn’t do, introducing a new cheaper plan, with adverts. Disney said back in June 2021 that it would not be launching a new ad-supported plan, but has obviously changed its mind.

This price hike will be the most severe since Disney+ was launched in 2019. Disney originally planned for the service to be $5.99, then it was increased up to $7.99 and now $10.99. The ad-supported plan will help fill that gap and will be $7.99 per month. The price changes and the new ad plan will come into affect later this year on Thursday 8th December.

Disney has not yet revealed what the UK specific prices will be, but based on what it currently costs at £7.99, we are almost certain that it’ll cost £10.99 per month and £109.99 per year.
