‪Windows‬ 10 is to be the last version of Windows

Microsoft may have surprised a few people with its latest announcement that Windows 10 will be the last version of the operating system. The news came this week from Jarry Nixon who is an employee at Microsoft. Jerry has said “Right now we’re releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we’re all still working on Windows 10.”

Since the initial launch of Windows 10, Microsoft has referred to it as a “service” and this recent announcement shows more about what Microsoft has planned. Even update Tuesday has been scrapped with the engineers making the updates smaller and more often to fix problems and make changes. Microsoft is even including some core apps free which will receive ongoing updates, like Mail, Calendar and Music. These apps will also appear on Windows Phone and PC.

This approach is also visible with how the company is updating the Xbox One with monthly software updates with big changes, Windows 10 will have this same approach.

Windows 10 is set to launch for PC this summer with Xbox, Windows Phone, Tablets and HoloLens to receive it later this year.
