Earlier today, Ford has revealed an all new electric E-Tourneo Custom, a multipurpose vehicle for transporting people, for families or shuttle companies. While Ford has offered a Tourneo version of the Transit Custom and the Transit Connect, this is the first time that the company is moving it to a fully electric vehicle. The Tourneo models take the commercial van of which it is based and make it more sutuibale for carrying people.

The new E-Tourneo Custom shares the design and drivetrain with the new E-Transit Custom which was revealed earlier this year. We got some more information about that last month and it’ll be going on sale in 2023. The new E-Tourneo Custom shares the same electric motor, with 215bhp driving the front wheels. Battery is a 74kWh pack and it offers a 230 mile range.

Other electric vans don’t quite meet the range of the new E-Tourneo and E-Transit Custom, with the Citroën e-Spacetourer offering just 136 miles and the e Mercedes-Benz EQV with 213 miles. However, so far the VW ID. Buzz (Ford shares a platform with the ID. Buzz for the E-Transit Custom) has it licked, offering up to 258 miles of range on one charge.

Like the new generation of Transit Custom, Ford will be offering combustion versions of the Tourneo too. With three diesel engines, with 135bhp, 148bhp and 168bhp. One PHEV offering is also going to be available too, using a 2.5-litre engine, mated with a 11.8kWh battery for an EV only range of 31 miles.

Inside, everything is pretty much the same as what we have seen with the standard panel van. Up front is the new Ford Sync 4 system running on a large 13-inch screen, with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The stressing wheel will fold flat to form a desk to work from or eat lunch.

In the back is where the Tourneo differs from the standard van version. Seating for six is available in the back, plus two in the front. Al the seats can be folded and turned around for a conference mode. For families, Isofix connectors are also available.

Ford is yet to reveal prices for the E-Tourneo Custom and it’ll be available in 2023.
