Today is the day Google is shutting down its game streaming service, Stadia. The service was launched back at the end of 2019 and the main reason for killing it off, was it failed to catch on with customers like the comply was expecting. The servers will be shut down at 11:59pm PT later today. Google intended to have the platform run in a variety of places, including PCs, Chromebooks, Macs, Chromecast and mobile devices.

However, Google announced in September 2022 that the platform would be shutting down in January and has since then, been refunding customers for the price of any digital content and the controllers and games. Google has said that the majority of refunds will be completed by the end of today. Google Stadia controllers were designed to connect to a WiFi network and then direct to the servers, however there is a Bluetooth chip built in, which Google will allow customers to use with a local machine instead.
