iMac Pro now available to order, starts at £4,899

Today, as promised Apple has now made the all new iMac Pro available for order and it starts at £4,899 in the UK and $4,999 in the United States. Earlier this week, we reported that Apple had revealed when the new iMac would go on sale and that had happened to be today.

The iMac Pro was teased at WWDC 2017, back in June and a very loose release date of “This December” was mentioned, with no solid date. Apple has been mentioning for the last year that the iMac Pro is deeply important to them and they do “remain committed” to the Mac. Also, back in April of this year the company did reveal they would have an all new modular Mac Pro, as well as a pro display coming soon too, this is most likely to come in 2018 now. But the iMac Pro does prove that Apple can deliver an extremely powerful machine, made for the pros.

Pricing and Specs

The iMac Pro is expensive, but the specs and extras lists do help justify why this new machine is priced the way it is.

The base configuration ships with a 27-inch 5K display, with the built in wide colour gamut support. It has a 8-core Intel Xeon W CPU, clocked at 3.2GHz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB SSD, AMD Radeon Pro 56 with 8GB memory. Every iMac Pro also has four USB 3.0 ports and 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports, which can be used at USB-C ports also. Networking wise, it has 802.11ac WiFi and 10Gb Ethernet.

Models can be configured up to an 18-core Xeon processor, AMD Vega Pro 56 or 64, 4TB SSD and up to 128GB DDR4 RAM.
