iOS 11 is now available to download

Today, as promised Apple has released iOS 11 to the public and with it brings a whole host of new features for the iPad, including a whole host of multitasking controls with better split screen support.

In short, whats new in iOS 11?

While we have a full feature length article on the new features in Apple’s new operating system for iOS devices, below is a highlight of what is new.

  1. iOS 11 no longer supports the older 32 bit apps. This is quite a big change, but a much needed one, as the app store currently has quite a number of older apps which haven’t been updated yet. Developers have been reminded over the course of the iOS 11 devolvement cycle to update their apps for 64 bit support.
  2. The camera app can now scan QR codes out of the box
  3. The App Store gets a full makeover, including tidier app listing pages, a new tab for games and much better tools for developers.
  4. Siri now sounds better and much more lifelike, with a new refined voice tone.

    New Control Centre
  5. Control Centre in iOS 11 gets a much needed redesign, it has basically looked the same and worked the same since its introduction with iOS 7 in 2013. Main sections can be expanded using 3D Touch and the lower section is all modular and can be customised from the Settings app.

Obviously iOS 11 has much more that is new, read more on our full article.

As usual with any iOS updates, the phone can be updated from the Settings app.

What devices can will it work with?
