The OnePlus Watch: A new smartwatch competitor?

The OnePlus Watch: A new smartwatch competitor?

OnePlus unveiled their first ever smartwatch alongside the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro launch; this is the first ever smartwatch from OnePlus. The OnePlus Watch is a new wearable from the company; it doesn’t run on Wear OS like most android smartwatches, but instead uses its own operating system.

It has a 1.39-inch circular AMOLED display encased in a 46mm stainless steel body. The bands are made from fluoroelastomer which is similar to silicone, however it is much more durable. The watch is compatible with the OnePlus Buds, allowing you to listen to music on the go since the watch allows up to 500 songs to be stored. The watch is IP68 protected from dust and water as well as 5ATM waterproof; this makes the watch a perfect companion for sporting activities.

Speaking of sports, the OnePlus Watch comes with over 110 built in fitness workouts to choose from. The OnePlus Watch can also automatically detect workouts, so if you start running the watch will automatically start tracking it, and if you stop the watch will pause the tracking.  As well as these fitness modes, there is also a heart rate monitor, GPS and blood oxygen scanning built in.

The OnePlus Watch battery can last up to 2 weeks on a single charge, this certainly makes the watch an attractive option to many. According to OnePlus, it takes just a 20 minute charge for a weeks worth of power.

The OnePlus watch will launch in two main colours: Moonlight Silver and Midnight Black. There will also be a limited edition made of cobalt with vegan leather straps, the availability of this is not yet known. It’ll will be available for purchase from April 26th, with a price tag of £149.
