The original HomePod has been jailbroken

In a report from 9to5Mac today, the original big HomePod has been jailbroken by L1ngL1ng on Twitter and the Checkra1n team. The team so far have got partial access to the HomePod’s command line, but the possibilities of what could be achieved are quite large.

Now the team have jailbroken the device, more third party music services could be added, other voice assistants and much more such as Bluetooth support. However, like iOS – the security hole that the team have used will inevitably be closed up once Apple catches wind of this exploit.

As ever, if something goes wrong the warranty from Apple does not cover you.
