TikTok has today revealed that it now has over 1 billion active monthly users. This amount of users is incredible, considering the platform only launched a couple years ago in August 2018.

Since then, the network has had its share of proposed take downs, forces sales and then the US and other countries accusing the company, ByteDance who owns TikTok of dodgy data collection practices.

However, the popularity of the social media network really ramped up in 2020, during the start of the pandemic. People were at home with more time to watch new videos and make them too. During that time, TikTok saw 315 million downloads.
