Elon Musk has shared today that the Twitter verified process is to be revamped and will launch, all going to plan on Friday next week. He has said the authentication process will be a purely manual process but just how that will work with limited staff, remains to be seen. As for the checkmarks, there is going to be new colours, with gold for companies, grey for government accounts and then the standard blue tick for anyone individuals, whether they are celebrities or just anyone.

What isn’t clear is who will need to pay for Twitter Blue in order to get the checkmark on the account. For the few days Twitter offered the verification via Blue, anyone could get the checkmark by just paying the £6.99/$7.99 price. It isn’t clear if governments and business will also need to pay.

Musk followed up with another tweet, saying “individuals can have secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org.” – This would probably apply for journalists and other people active on Twitter.

Elon Musk was originally proposing to launch the new revised Twitter Blue sevice on 29th November, but instead it’ll now launch on 2nd December.
