Ubiquiti puts the new UniFi Dream Router on sale

Ubiquiti puts the new UniFi Dream Router on sale

Back in September last year, Ubiquiti announced the new UniFi Dream Router (UDR) and was made available on the Early Access Store which is Ubiquiti’s beta program and allows anyone with an account to purchase that new hardware. Now some six months later, the UDR is now finally available to everyone.

First things first, the UDR looks very similar to the existing UDM but with an added 0.96-inch colour screen, which allows for viewing of traffic levels and other statistics. The UDM is also on capable of running one application, the UniFi Network app, whereas the UDR can run all of them, from UniFi Network, UniFi Protect, UniFi Access, UniFi Talk and more but the big caveat is that due to its lack of RAM, the UDR can only run two of those apps at once. If you need anything more, it is best to step to a UDM-Pro or UDM-SE instead.

The UDR also adds 802.11ax (WiFi 6) support and two PoE ports for an easy way to add an additional access point and a UniFi Protect camera. Like the UDM-SE, the UDR has 128 GB of internal storage which can be used for UniFi Protect footage but there is an included SD card slot for easy expansion.

The new UDR is on sale now from Ubiquiti’s own official stores, but is listed as coming soon at the moment. Prices for the US are at $199, for comparison the UDM is $299. Ubiquiti has not yet added the UDR to the EU / UK store.
