Ubiquiti UID (UniFi Identification) now available in the US

Ubiquiti has this week released UID out of its beta phase, at lease in the US. UID is a new cloud platform from Ubiquiti that has been in Early Access (Beta) since November last year and is designed for use by companies with one or many offices and makes a very easy way for employee to gain access to WiFi, doors and VPN.

UID is now available in the US, but is still in Early Access (Beta) for Canada and the EU (and UK).

UID offers a single app and will allow users to get access to those applications with one click. IT admins can import an existing directory into UID from Office 365 or G Suite, using LDAP or Active Directory. On the higher plan, G Suite and Office 365 can also be used as an Identity Provider to sign in with, making things even easier.

Naturally, UID is ideal for companies using UniFi. If the office building uses UniFi for WiFi, UniFi Access for door access then the UID app can be a one stop shop, employees can unlock doors with their phone or NFC card and use the UID app on macOS, Windows, Android or iOS to log into the WiFi, without the need or security risk for people to remember SSIDs and WPA2 keys, as soon as an employee leaves, remove them from the system and they won’t be able to log into the WiFi or gain access to the doors.

Ubiquiti has several plans available, as well as some system requirements. Jumping up the higher plans give users access to more doors, more recording history and things like custom domains. Prices are not yet publicly available and Ubiquiti say to contact sales.
