Microsoft Office 2019 will require Windows 10 to operate

Microsoft Office 2019 will require Windows 10 to operate

Microsoft will be releasing the next big update to Office later this year and this week, Microsoft has provided some more information on what is required to run it when it is released.

Windows 10 only

First and foremast, Office 2019 will only work on Windows 10, unless you are using Office 365. Basically if you want to buy Office 2019 outright, then by the sounds of it, it will work on Windows 10. But if you pay for an Office 365 subscription, it will work on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 as well. This move sounds like a way to get more subscriptions, especially from businesses as most companies are still running Windows 7.

For those wondering, this has no affect on Office for the Mac, Microsoft seems to treat the macOS version of Office as a separate product so the release dates for Office 2019 for Mac are yet unknown – but check back to A&T Tech for any updates about it.

Office 2019

Office 2019 will come sometime later this year and will offer a much needed UI tidy up on Word, Excel and PowerPoint. As well as clean up the mess which is Outlook and make it much less cluttered. Microsoft is also cleaning up the server version of Exchange and SharePoint.

New features are inking support for all applications, new animations in PowerPoint and some new charts within Excel.
