Google is now supporting new Chromebooks for 8 years

Google has said this week that it is now extending the support for any new Chromebooks purchased in 2020 for the Chrome Education Upgrade program. The Chrome OS Automatic Update program ensures devices are kept up to date with automatic updates.

When Google first introduced the automatic updates program, devices were only for three years after purchase but since then, it has slowly been increased to the now eight year support. Google has now also raised the price of Chrome Education Upgrade which offers among a few other things, 24/7 support. The price used to be $30 and is now $38 for a one off fee.
