YouTube’s much rumoured music streaming service was announced last week, but now invites are being sent out to some users for the service.

YouTube is now taking a move towards the music streaming market with their service Music Key. It starts at £7.99 ($7.99) a month and once you pay, you get access to ad-free videos to watch online and the option to download the videos to watch offline, and for a first time the videos can be played in the background and play while the phone is locked.

Users who have been invited to the beta are required to enter in their credit card numbers to sign up, but the first six months usage will be free. Google Music All Access subscribers don’t seem to be prioritised, YouTube are selecting users by random.

The service isn’t yet available for iOS, but Google say that it is coming soon. Only Android has an app.
