Netatmo updates its Smart Indoor Camera to support HomeKit Secure Video

Apple announced HomeKit Secure Video for HomeKit camera last year at WWDC for a release with iOS 13, and support from camera manufacturers has been slowly rolling in and today, French company Netatmo, which is best known for its weather station has updated its indoor camera to now support Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video.

The free update will roll out over the next few days, according to the company.

HomeKit Secure Video allows users to use just the Home app to view all of your cameras, regardless of the manufacturer. Also, videos are stored in iCloud for up to 10 days of storage, if you do need more days the footage will start to count against the iCloud storage quota.

“With HomeKit Secure Video, the videos recorded by security cameras are analysed locally on users iPad, HomePod or Apple TV. The footage is encrypted end-to-end and securely stored in iCloud where no one can see them.”
