Alta Labs introduces the new AP6W, its first in-wall access point

Alta Labs AP6W

Alta Labs, a company that focuses on enterprise networking equipment with a very similar product line to Ubiquiti, has launched its first in-wall wireless access point. The new AP6W features WiFi 6, support for PoE passthrough, AltaPass and much more.

The AP6W joins the other APs from Alta Labs, such as the AP6, AP6 Pro and AP6 PRO Outdoor and offers a slimline AP designed for hotels, apartments and condos.

It is powered by 802.3af or 802.3at and has a unique flexible powering option, something Alta Labs is calling 'Multi Direction PoE Input'. This simply means that the either the back or bottom ethernet ports can be used to power the AP.

The AP6W also features 2.4GHz and 5GHz and MU-MIMO, offering on paper data rates of up to 1,200mbps.

With the Alta Labs controller, the AP6W supports 16 SSIDs per radio and AltaPass which is its version of PPSK.

Alta Labs don't have their own direct to consumer sales website, but they do partner with many distrubiters around the world. In the UK, the AP6W costs £79.95 and in the US $76.01.
