Netatmo launches updated HomeKit Smart Outdoor Camera, now has an integrated siren

Netatmo, which is most famous for its weather station – which now after many years, works with HomeKit. The French company has updated its outdoor smart floodlight camera with an integrated siren which can get very loud, up to 105db. The existing Smart Outdoor Camera has been out for a few years and is still on sale, while the new one is up for pre-order.

Both cameras work with HomeKit, but not HomeKit Secure Video at this time. Netatmo doesn’t offer any cloud services for storing recordings, instead the camera can be pointed to a local FTP server, NAS, Dropbox or an SD card inside the camera. Netatmo’s indoor camera does work with HomeKit Secure Video, so this is something the company could add at a later stage. Netatmo does actually include a 32GB microSD card in the box.

The camera features a 4MP sensor, which is good for a 1920×1080 resolution with a wide 100º FoV. It can detect objects without using the cloud, it can pick up people, cars and pets but it can’t do facial recognition.

The Smart Outdoor Camera only uses WiFi at 2.4GHz whereas its indoor camera uses WiFi and wired Ethernet.

The Smart Outdoor Camera is up for pre-order here in the UK and the rest of Europe for £319.99, with deliveries starting on the 9th June. In the US, it will be available later this year for $349.99.
