Last month, we had news that Ford is going to be dropping the iconic Fiesta hatchback from sale in 2023. However, hot on the tales of that news, it has been reported that the Fiesta was actually the best selling car in the UK last month. October 2022 saw the Fiesta climb the charts, beating the Vauxhall Corsa for the first time since the start of the year.

New figures have been released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), which show that Ford had sold 4,230 Fiestas in October 2022, beating the Vauxhall Corsa, Volkswagen Golf and Nissan Qashqai. However, while the Corsa has been the best selling car so far this year, the Qashqai has just edged ahead by around 1,000 units.

Ford is still planning to discontinue the Fiesta in 2023, as customers move towards SUVs and electric vehicles. EV sales have been rising, with one in three registrations in October being an all electric car. Sales were up by 23.4% in October, with 19,993 units sold.
