Acer launches first monitors with USB-C, work with 12-inch MacBook

This week at CES, Acer unveiled new models of monitors which are incredibly thin but also work with the new 12-inch MacBook which famously only has one port, USB-C. Tthe new H7 series monitors have the new USB standard built in, meaning that any adaptors aren’t needed, but don’t fear these screens do have the usual array of connections with two HDMI 2.0 ports for use with other sources.

Acer have two models of the H7 a 25-inch and 27-inch variants starting at $499.99 and available in North America in February with other areas to follow. These models have IPS panels with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. The USB-C port on these monitors not only provides a signal for the display, but also charges the MacBook. The H7 series also comes in a champagne gold option.

Acer also unveiled the R1 series, which according to the company is the “world’s thinnest monitor” with varying models at 21.5-inch, 23.8-inch, 25-inch and 27-inch all of which have the “ZeroFrame”, the entire body of the monitor is around 7mm.

Acer also released a super wide monitor with a 21:9 display at 34-inch. It’s mostly aimed at gamers, with a resolution 3440 x 1440 and technology from AMD called FreeSync, it’ll be available in March for $1194.
