Apple announces ‘Apple TV+’ its in house streaming service, with original programming

Apple’s ‘It’s show time’ event has finished and the company has announced a number of new services, including the much rumoured streaming service which we now know is called Apple TV+.

Today at the event, the company invited a host of celebrities on stage to show off their new shows, including Reese Witherspoon, Jenifer Aniston, Oprah, Steven Spielberg and more.

“We’re honored that the absolute best lineup of storytellers in the world — both in front of and behind the camera — are coming to Apple TV+, We’re thrilled to give viewers a sneak peek of Apple TV+ and cannot wait for them to tune in starting this fall. Apple TV+ will be home to some of the highest quality original storytelling that TV and movie lovers have seen yet.”

The new service will be launching later this year in the autumn or fall – depending on where you’re from. It will gave no adverts or commercials of any kind and will be out in 100 countries.

There are no details on the pricing of the service, but Apple has mentioned that information will be available at the time of launch.

One thing that will be available soon, in May this year is an update to the Apple TV app. Apple has redesigned the application to include a new ‘Channels’ section. The app will also come to the Mac later this year too.

And to follow up from the addition of iTunes Movies and AirPlay to third party smart TVs – the Apple TV app will also be coming to TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio.
